30 Days of Thanks - Day 15

Something about this 30 Days of Thanks thing is making me think about starting this blog up again. I'm horrible at keeping up with things like this since it takes up time and anything that takes up time stresses me out. But I figure I'll start writing down something here but won't make a big deal about it. If I keep it up, I do. If I don't, I don't. No pressure. So I will begin with my boring story of potatoes...

Day 15 - I am thankful that Bob Evans sells their mashed potatoes at the grocery store.

Let me start this off by saying, I am not talented in the kitchen. I can follow a recipe and typically don't have things blow up in my face, but I have no sixth sense telling me what spices should be added to what dish to make it better. So, really this story isn't surprising.

My potato lie

Today, our work has a big Thankgiving lunch. I was actually excited this year to sign up to bring something fun that I spotted on Pinterest (that place is FILLED with yummy food with easy recipes to follow). But when I got to the sign up sheet, the only things left were mashed potatoes and stuffing. All of the "Other Sides" were taken. BORING. I brought stuffing last year, so I figured I'd sign up for the potatoes, even though I've never made them before and I've heard horror stories about them "not turning out right" (whatever that means). So instead I perused Pinterest for some mashed potatoes recipes. There were a few and I pinned them, but just the thought of cleaning and skinning those things made me tired.

Low and behlod, and excuse came my way!

We set up an appointment to have family photos taken on Saturday and we needed to buy some coordinating clothes for the shoot, and Kohl's was having a sale that was ending last night, so I HAD to go then!!! That meant, I couldn't slave over the potatoes! Yay... I mean, shucks. I have to buy store bought potatoes. Even better, I went to Kroger and they had the potatoes on sale 2 for $6! It was meant to be.

So now I'm here at work and my potatoes are warming up in my crock pot. They don't LOOK store bought so I'm still deciding whether or not I want to tell people the truth. I mean, if I had the time, I'm sure I could make mashed potatoes just as yummy as theirs! ;)
