I am now 37 weeks which is officially considered "full term". That means that if I were to go into labor today, The doctors wouldn't try to stop it and the baby would most likely be able to fend for herself without any outside medical assistance. At my appointment on Thursday, the doctor estimated the baby to be about 6.5 lbs. She is still extremely active kicking and moving around with almost no regard to what a small space she is in! RUDE! ;)
I am doing ok overall. No problems to worry about. Everything seems to be going smoothly. Although, if you ask me I could whine all day. My heartburn has started and makes eating no fun, which was my only joy of being pregnant! Boo. I now carry around TUMS everywhere I go. I also have new aches and pains associated with the end of pregnancy that are sometimes so uncomfortable I want to cry. But again, they are NORMAL so its just something I have to live with. I'm also hitting the point in pregnancy where I wake up in the middle of the night and stay wide awake for at least an hour or two. Often thinking about all the things we still have to do. I remember when I was pregnant with Kaitlyn, this nightly ritual got worse and worse, which is one reason that I'm looking forward to going off work soon so I don't have to worry about how many hours I was awake at night. My last day at work is scheduled as Friday, April 29.

The baby's room - Photo by KAITLYN! |
The baby's room is basically done. We want to get a dresser in there, but we have a cheap version of one that will work for now. Kaitlyn helped us decide on the color of the room - purple! Kaitlyn is also being a huge help by hanging up the baby's clothes in the closet. She is going to be a great big sister!
Speaking of which, Kaitlyn took a Sibling Class earlier this month. The class had stations that taught the siblings about how to hold a baby, play with a baby, take care of a baby, etc. Kaitlyn did great! She already knew lots of things about what to do with a baby. We also got a brief tour of the Mother/Baby area of the hospital, so Kaitlyn got to see where Mommy and the baby would be staying when the baby is first born. Kaitlyn was very excited to see there was a TV in the waiting room and in the Mother/Baby room (this kid has a one track mind).
This past weekend, as I was talking with Kaitlyn, I realized she thought the baby was going to "pop out of Mommy's mouth". I had the fun task of trying to explain that this was not the case. She's still a little unclear of how it's all going to work, but at least she doesn't have to imagine me throwing up the baby.
I'll try to post another blog very soon. While I've been growing a baby, Kaitlyn has been growing up! She's been busy lately being a little person and making us very proud. I told her recently the reason we wanted to have another baby is because SHE was such a wonderful kid, we want to have another one just like her. Kaitlyn's response: "You want TWO Kaitlyns?" Yep, we want two Kaitlyns. :)
Thanks for "keeping it real" about being pregnant, Heather! I can't wait to meet the new addition!!!
